Uno degli artisti più irriverenti e innovativi della scena internazionale, Jérôme Bel torna a Milano con la prima italiana del suo ultimo lavoro, un insolito doppio autoritratto con il danzatore thailandese Pichet Klunchun. In questa performance dalle linee pulite, costruita attorno al modulo del dialogo faccia a faccia, due mondi antitetici vengono messi a confronto: l’oriente e l’occidente, il classico e il postmoderno, la tradizione e l’innovazione, il virtuosismo e l’indisciplina. Con ironia e schiettezza, semplicità e complicità, Bel e Klunchun esplorano il fertile territorio di confine tra due culture e due pratiche artistiche, mettendone a nudo i nodi critici, i punti di incontro e gli affascinanti segreti.
Jérôme Bel, one of the most irreverent and innovative artists of the international scene, returns to Milan with the Italian premiere of his latest work, an unusual double self-portrait with the Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun. In this neatly devised performance, constructed through face-to-face dialogue, two antithetic worlds come together: east and west, the classic and the postmodern, tradition and innovation, virtuosity and indiscipline. With humour and candour, simplicity and complicity, Bel and Klunchun explore the fertile borderland between two cultures and two artistic practices, laying bare their critical knots, points of contact and charming secrets.
