Jonathan Burrows & Matteo Fargion
(UK-Italy) Both Sitting Duet
italian premiere
13th September
h 22.00 La Triennale di Milano
running time 45 mins.

"Both Sitting Duet", a composition for the hands and arms, is the most recent work by the British choreographer Jonathan Burrows, realised with the Italian composer Matteo Fargion – “a collaboration that explores an extremely fascinating intermediate zone between music and choreography” (De Standard). Sitting on chairs, one beside the other, Burrows and Fargion perform precisely and in rigorous concentration a musical composition for the body, following a written score set out on the floor in front of them. In perfect unison, hands glide and cut through the space, fingers tiptoe across the chest, arms and legs, shoulders roll backwards and forwards. A lively conversation of rhythm, sound and gesture, "Both Sitting Duet" is a marvellous choreography for everyday life, “not a dance to be performed with the mind sitting down” (Dance Insider).
